A safe place for your dog to stay when life doesn't go to plan.

Sometimes things happen that nobody saw coming. An unexpected hospital stay, a family crisis, a sudden change in circumstances – moments when the last thing anyone needs is the additional worry of who will look after their dog.

Violet's Bed is a free place at Owl Farmhouse for a dog whose owner needs our help but can't afford to pay. There's no charge and no judgement. Just a warm bed, good food, lovely walks and all the same care and attention we give every dog who stays with us.

WHY VIOLET?

Owl Farmhouse wouldn't exist without Violet Griffin. She owned the house and ran it as a B&B, filling it with guests and dogs for many years before she died in June 2025.

Violet knew that sometimes life gives you a kicking, and that asking for help isn't always easy. Violet's Bed is our way of honouring her legacy by making sure that when someone has enough to worry about, their dog doesn't have to be one of those things.

HOW IT WORKS

Violet's Bed is available free of charge, subject to availability, for dog owners experiencing difficult or unexpected circumstances. It might be an emergency hospital stay, a family crisis, financial difficulties or simply one of those times when several bits of life fall apart at once.

You don't need to persuade us that your circumstances are difficult enough. Just tell us a little about your dog, when you need us and anything we'll need to know to look after them. If Violet's Bed is available and we're able to help, we will.
