Our Dogs

Meet our pawmanent residents.

Owl Farmhouse is home to three dogs of our own: Juno, Wilf and Olive. They're part of the family, unofficial members of staff and, in their own very different ways, extremely committed to making sure every guest knows how things work around here.

Between them they provide companionship, entertainment, security and a comprehensive induction into the best sleeping spots and most productive sniffing areas.

JUNO - Head of Guest Relations

Juno is our fox red Labrador and the natural hostess of Owl Farmhouse. Friendly, gentle and delighted by pretty much everything, she believes every new arrival is a potential best friend and every human is carrying snacks until proven otherwise.

She loves long walks, swimming, retrieving things and introducing nervous newcomers to the important business of having a lovely time.

Likes: Food, swimming, people, dogs, walks, more food.

Dislikes: Being told she's already had dinner.

WILF - Head of Security

Wilf is a wire-haired dachshund with an enormous personality fitted to a remarkably low chassis.

As Head of Security, he takes personal responsibility for announcing every visitor, delivery driver, bird, suspicious leaf and occasional noise that nobody else can hear.

When off duty, Wilf enjoys long naps, belly rubs and positioning himself precisely where somebody is most likely to trip over him.

Likes: Belly rubs, blankets, being involved.

Dislikes: Unannounced visitors. Announced visitors.

Olive - Head of Customer Complaints

Olive is small, scruffy and entirely convinced that Owl Farmhouse would fall apart without her supervision.

We think she’s mostly border terrier, possibly with a side order of pug. She has strong opinions about most things and communicates them largely through facial expressions. She can generally be found overseeing operations and looking faintly disappointed with the results. Don't be fooled by the judgement. Underneath it all, she's a total softie.

Likes: Warm laps, getting her own way, maintaining standards.

Dislikes: Poor decision-making. Yours, mainly.

OSCAR, STAFFWEILER

“Oscar can be nervous around other dogs, but Juno seemed to know exactly when to play with him and when to give him some space. By the end of the weekend they were sharing a bed, and he’s been pining for her ever since we got home. If this is a repeat booking strategy, it’s very effective.”
