It takes a surprisingly large number of people to provide a small number of dogs with the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed.
Fortunately, Owl Farmhouse has an excellent team of dog lovers, treat dispensers, ball throwers, belly rubbers and people willing to stand outside in horizontal rain waiting for your dog to choose exactly the right patch of grass.
We're fully licensed and insured, with canine first-aid training and animal care students working alongside our permanent team. We take looking after your dog extremely seriously, even if it looks like we’re just having fun.
Meet the Owl Farmhouse team
MEG - Owner & Chief Dog Person
Meg inherited Owl Farmhouse quite by accident and has been making it up as she goes along ever since.
A former hotel manager and dog walker, she now spends her days making sure every guest feels completely at home, organising bookings, doing all the admin and managing the mud.
She lives at Owl Farmhouse with Juno, Wilf and Olive and knows every dog who stays here by name, personality, dietary requirements and preferred location for having their ears scratched.
Specialist skills: Dogs, spreadsheets, finding poo bags in every coat pocket she owns.
OKSANA - Housekeeper & Head of Absolutely Everything
Oksana has been part of Owl Farmhouse for longer than any of us and consequently knows how everything works, where everything lives and what everyone else is doing wrong.
Formidable, practical and demanding extremely high standards, she keeps the farmhouse running, the humans organised and our guests very well looked after.
She claims not to have favourite dogs, but nobody believes her.
Specialist skills: Organisation, home-baked dog treats, dog whispering.
DOUG & LUCY - Animal Care Placement Students
Doug and Lucy are studying Animal Care & Management at Common Leys Farm and joined Owl Farmhouse on industry placement.
They help with feeding, walks, grooming, playtime and the approximately four thousand other jobs involved in looking after a house full of dogs. In return, we provide practical experience, endless opportunities to learn and lifelong knowlege of how to use a washing machine.
They're brilliant with the dogs, unfazed by dog breath and young enough to get down on the floor without making a noise when they stand up again.
Specialist skills: Animal care, endless energy, understanding modern technology
ED...Resident Vet*
Ed is our local vet and also lives at Owl Farmhouse, which sounds incredibly useful for a luxury dog hotel.
Unfortunately Ed runs a local practice, which means he's generally either at the surgery or somewhere in the Cotswolds with an arm up a cow rather than wafting around the farmhouse in case somebody gets a poorly tummy.
He is nevertheless extremely handy in an emergency, very good with animals of all sizes and remarkably tolerant of being asked to “just have a quick look at this” during dinner.
Specialist skills: Veterinary medicine, livestock, mowing the lawn
